Music is alive and well at Dublin Coffman High School.  In January, Coffman hosted one of the greatest marimba players in the world when she performed with the Symphonic Band.  She-e Wu, professor of Percussion at Northwestern University, performed David Gillingham's "Concerto No. 2 for Marimba" as well as three movements from J.S. Bach's "Cello Suite in G Major."  Students from Coffman, Jerome and Hilliard Davidson all participated in a masterclass in which she discussed her own experiences growing up with music as well as conducting her musical ideas with a piece performed by the Dublin Coffman Percussion Ensemble.  Special thanks to Innovative Percussion, Zildjian Cymbals, Evans Heads and Dynasty/DEG for their financial support in bringing Ms. Wu to our school and who provided many door prizes for the students to share.

The following students participated in the OSU Honor Band held on January 17, 2010 in Weigel Hall: Erica Jung, Kim He, Megan Snide, Sarah Pusey, Charles Xu, Elizabeth Hutcheson, and Hannah Pusey.

The following students participated in the OMEA All-State Band held on January 30, 2010 in the Duke Energy Ballroom: Erica Jung, Charles Xu, Sarah Pusey, Elizabeth Hutcheson, Matthew Zelnik, and Grant Jameson.

Congratulations to the Dublin Coffman Winter Guard who placed first in their class at the OIPA show: the Middletown Classic.  Congratulations Ladies!

Mr. and Mrs. Rice welcomed their first child into the world in late January.  Garrett Jacob Rice made his arrival on January 27, 2010 at 8:23 am weighing 7 lbs 12 ounces and 21 inches.  Congratulations to our newest Mom and Dad!
